Last night, Steph, Caleb, and I got dressed up as an 80’s workout video. I was supposed to be Richard Simmons, but it didn’t work out so well; although a small handful of people guessed it correctly!
We brought a 16 pound boom box down with us, with a cd I ripped right before we left of a bunch of hits from the 80’s. We played that CD about 4 or 5 times, and walked up and down 6th Street. They block that road off, and it is completely packed with people in costumes. Amanda went with us as Marilyn Monroe. She looked really good, too.
We had no clue that we’d get such a positive response! SO many people stopped and danced with us as we danced our way down the road with the 80’s blasting from the heavy 8 D-battery boombox sitting on my shoulder. Caleb brought 2 dumbbells to work out with. We had quite a few people ask us to take pictures with them. A couple times, we would set the boombox on the ground, and all 3 of us would dance for a few minutes. You can see in the pictures, we would gather quite a crowd with people taking photos and videos. At one point, a photographer took my name down, and said that he worked for the Daily Texan Newspaper, then said “thanks for keeping the party alive!” Wow! What a compliment. At one point, for about an hour, we had a group of 4 or 5 girls who would follow us to each dance spot and dance with us.

For 3 1/2 hours we danced, I carried that 16 pound boombox the entire time. Today, we are as sore as a bunch of old folks. My back and arms ache, and Stephanie’s neck and body is in pain. I’ve never seen Caleb limp like he was on the way to the car last night! Haha!
We are making some big plans for next year! It’s going to be much bigger and better than this one. More people, louder boombox, better costumes: BIGGER DANCE PARTY!!
Car cuts off semi. Semi jumps median and lands on side. Can’t seem to find an explanation on why. It happened in Addison, TX, right by Dallas.
This happened right by my house. It also caused all the power to go out in my neighborhood. We were leaving my house right after it happened, & all the neighbors were standing in their front yards looking around, half of them on their phones. It was pretty comical! I’ve never seen so many of my neighbors! I kind of felt like everyone in the neighborhood bonded. Haha
